Here are two actual client histories to help you get a better idea of how this looks in practice:

Coaching Client 1:

A male professional in his early 40’s had decided to make a career change and had successfully completed all the requirements needed for his new professional life.  He lacked, however, the clarity needed to launch himself into his new market.  Although he had confidence in his new skills and in his ability to do the actual work, he was not confident about his business sense.  This was a huge barrier, since he planned to set himself up as an independent consultant in his new field.  He was in a general state of self-doubt and confusion.

An initial agreement was made for five 90-minute coaching sessions to be held over 2 months.  Working with the powerful tools of NLP and MentoringCoaching®, this man was able to work through the confusion and identify the actual barriers in front of him and let go of the ones he had imagined.  That established, he was able to tackle each obstacle step by step and find appropriate solutions to each.  His self-doubt disappeared as he learned how to tap into his own resources and reinforce his confidence when situations became difficult or uncomfortable.

By the end of the 5th session he felt he had acquired his own “tool box” of techniques that would carry him through to the successful launching of his new career.  (As a footnote to this, this man quite unexpectedly found a new partner.  The latest news is that they plan to marry within the next few months.)

Coaching Client 2:

A professional in her mid-twenties who had difficulties with her previous and current bosses was being professionally exploited in the quantity of work expected from her and in the salary she received.  Her low self-esteem and low expectations allowed the situation to become critical.  At the same time, she was having difficulties in her relationship with the man in her life:  she had lost her own ‘self’ to his more extroverted personality, given up her personal activities to take part in his and generally felt anxious about the relationship’s future.

This client was coached both in person and over the telephone over a 3-month period for a total of 16 one-hour sessions.  Taking ownership of her process and doing the work with motivation enabled this young woman to turn her romantic and professional life around dramatically.  By the end of the coaching work she had come to realizations she had not believed possible and was thus able to radically change her responses and behaviors towards her relationship and her work.

The results were transformative:  Not only did the relationship move to a forward-moving track (to the great satisfaction of her partner as well as herself), but she had stood up to her boss, quit her job and found new employment with a reputable international company which highly appreciated her array of skills and her now-cheerful personality and offered her a Head of Department position with a 35% salary increase.
